Testing instructions
TESTS Sessions for Summer 2012 will be held during the months of July & August.
SSC holds test sessions five or six times throughout a calendar year. Our upcoming test sessions will always be noted at the top of our test page. Applications are due 3 weeks BEFORE the test date!
The first step in determining when your skater should test is to talk with their coach. Once their coach has determined that it is time for your skater to test, then an application needs to be filed. Applying is simple!
Please go to our test application page and fill in the form. You will be asked general information and will be asked to select a test for your skater from the drop down box. If more than one test is to be taken, then additional tests can be written in the box provided. Once your test application is submitted, our Test Chair will get an email. Your skater's application is complete once payment is made. Instructions for payment are found on our form, but in short, payment can be made by credit card by calling 425-672-6885 or by check - directly through the SSC Office mail slot or by mailing to: SSC, 22202 70th Ave. West, Mountlake Terrace, WA 98043.
Please note that your skater will not be scheduled until payment is received.
Frequently asked Testing Questions
1) If I am not sure if my skater will be ready for a test, can I pay for the test and then cancel?
The short answer is no. When the club books ice for our test sessions we reserve and pay for ice based on the applications we receive. Each test has a standard time and we use that to calculate, to the minute, our sessions. If we have planned for your skater and they do not test, we have paid for ice that will not be used. The only exceptions to this rule are illness or family emergencies.
2) My skater is taking contingent tests - meaning they want to do two tests in the session and they have to pass the first before they can take the second. If they fail the first step, do I get a refund for the second?
The answer again is no and the rationale is the same as above. Ice is booked on tests requested and refunding your payment means we can not pay our ice bill. PLEASE do not make this decision without talking to your skater's coach.
3) My skater is a member of another club. Can they still test at SSC?
Yes, they can. First priority in test slots, if we have too many skaters apply by the deadline, goes to SSC members, then Associate members and then members of other clubs. There is a $20 test session fee if your skater is from another club. We will not deposit your check until we can ensure that there is space on the test session for your skater. Also, you must get permission from your home club test chair to test at our rink. Just have them send an email to the SSC test chair at ssctestchair@hotmail.com
4) I am an SSC member and I want to test at another rink. Do I have to tell you?
Yes, you do. In order for a non-club member to test any other club, permission must be given by your club's test chair. In our case, our test chair, Cathy Null, will grant you permission once she has confirmed with our membership chair that you are a member-in-good-standing. Meaning that you have an active membership with the club and that you have no outstanding fees owed to the club. Please email Cathy at ssctestchair@hotmail.com
